Teekoy is a small village located on the banks of the Meenachil River and has avenues galore for the eager nature-lover to explore. A must see spot in Teekoy is Marmala waterfalls – the sight of water getting sprayed all around, as it sways down the narrow valleys and rocky cliffs can never go unnoticed! A place rich in rare medicinal herbs, Teekoy is homeland for “Neelakoduveli”- a medicinal plant renowned for its revitalizing properties. Located 3 km from Econest,Kurisumala (Mountain of the Cross) is a Christian pilgrimage centre, with 14 stations of crosses along the path leading to the church at the hilltop overlooking the surrounding mountains. According to the Syrian Christian traditon this place is known to have been visited by Saint Thomas the Apostle, is a wellknown pilgrimage centre. Thousands of devotees climb up the hill carrying wooden crosses during the Holy Week.

Thangal Hill is an important religious site near Vagamon. It is famous for the burial chamber of Sufi saint, Sheikh Fariduddin. This hill is covered with grasslands, meadows and dense pine forests.Every year thousands of people gather here for offering prayers as well as seeking blessings from the Saint. Kurishumala Ashram takes its name from a mountain which is the site of a Christian pilgrimage in the Sahya Mountains of Kerala.The name combines the Portuguese ‘Cruz’ with the Dravidian word ‘Mala’mountain.It is a monastery where the way of life is adapted to Indian cultural ethos.The monastery was founded in 1956 by a Belgian Cistercian monk with the assistance of an English Benedictine monk. Here Christian monks from local and foreign countries live together as a community exploring the synthesis of Christian and Indian spirtual traditions. The highest peak at the Ashram is known as the “Resurrection Garden”, a place wholly secured for meditation.The Ashram buildings are made of rock stones,it consists of a church, community quarters with cells for monks,and a well stocked library with books on bible,Fathers of the church,Monastic Spirituality,Theology,Comparative Religion.There is a guest house with a spacious satsang hall,besides some hermitages scattered among the rocks.Ashram has a well estblished dairy farm which attracts lot of visitors.

Murugan Mala is a small hill located on the eastern side of Kurisumala. The temple of Lord Murugan was constructed using a single rock. It is also known as the Murugan Para about 2 km away from the Econest.The place attracts thousands of devotees not only from Kerala but also from different States.The process of constructing a large temple at MuruganMala based on the architectural model of lord Muruga temple at Palani is in the offing.

The rolling green meadows of Vagamon, has for long been a favorite location for shooting movie songs.
